Student Groups

THERE’S NO BETTER PLACE for student groups than America's favorite family destination. Students will discover Pigeon Forge is a place full of adventure, education and a whole lot of fun on the Parkway, at Dollywood and in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Student groups of all ages and sizes love coming back for everything there is to see and do in Pigeon Forge.

Dollywood

Explore Dollywood’s unique 125-acre outdoor classroom during Festival of Nations featuring more than 200 international performers. See Archimedes’ principle at work on the Smoky Mountain River Rampage or experience a one-of-a-kind zoology lesson at the spectacular Eagle Mountain Sanctuary. Centuries-old history comes to life with Dollywood’s craft demonstrations. Dollywood is ideal for showcasing the talents of musical students.
Choral groups and school bands are invited to present 20-minute musical performances throughout the season. As a special gift, Dolly provides a free lunch to all students visiting on a weekday school field trip! For more information about Dollywood’s amazing outdoor classroom and musical opportunities, please call 1-888-428-6789 or visit www.dollywood.com.

Belle Island Village: Opening Fall 2008!

Home of The Darrell Waltrip Racing Experience, The Debbie Reynolds Hollywood Motion Picture Museum and Knoxville Zoo's Otter Cove, Belle Island Village has several venues for students to show off their musical talents. Outdoor stages and the streets of Belle Island Village will showcase their talent - we provide the sound, lights, risers and audience. Discounts extended to performing groups. After the performance, enjoy the many attractions available including rides, shows, restaurants and shopping.

Country Tonite Theatre Student Tours

Bring your students to special performances just for them at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. and enjoy the Country Tonite’s optional student tour package, too. Highlights include backstage tours, Q & A sessions with the cast and workshops in dance, singing, comedy and more. (Workshops incur additional fee.)

Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede

In addition to the renowned show, Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede also has the capability to host your special gathering. Dedicated dinner shows and themed meeting space are just the beginning. Performance areas are available for school choral groups and bands, while school field trips will be treated to special Dixie-style entertainment.

The Old Mill

Students can learn how their ancestors acquired their baking needs with a tour of the Old Mill’s authentic stone grinder. Several types of flour as well as corn meal and grits are produced daily the old-fashioned way for use in the Old Mill restaurant recipes and are for sale in the General Store.

WonderWorks

The minute student groups see the upside-down building, they know this place is going to be full of surprises. An amusement park for the mind, WonderWorks features more than 100 interactive exhibits designed to fascinate, intrigue and entertain. You will never forget their faces as students experience what a 65 mph hurricane really feels like, land the Discovery Space Shuttle, test their rock climbing skills, hang out in the Anti-Gravity Chamber and play Laser Tag with still more activities to enjoy.

Dinosaur Walk Museum

Take a trip back in time…a long, long time, back to the prehistoric days of the dinosaur. Learn about the giant beasts that once roamed the earth while marveling at the more than 60 life-sized models that can reach three-stories tall!

Great Smoky Mountains National Park Learning Programs

The Parks As Classrooms program encourages teachers in surrounding communities to bring K-8 students to the park for a hands-on learning experience that meshes Great Smoky Mountain themes with Tennessee and North Carolina educational objectives. Park rangers serve as primary instructors with assistance from the classroom teachers. The Appalachian Highlands Science and Learning Center at Purchase Knob allows middle school, high school and college students, along with their teachers, to work with scientists and park staff on projects ranging from salamander population monitoring to air quality research. Students are also recruited to work as research assistants on extended scientific projects, especially during the summer field season.

Letting Off a Little Steam

Zorb

Even though zorbing was invented in New Zealand (where bungee jumping began), it isn't an extreme adventure sport. The most common reaction inside the Zorb is screaming with laughter. Climb into this 11-foot, inflatable plastic ball and roll head over heels safely down hillside courses. Your group could be among the first to try out the only Zorb course in North America.

Dollywood's Splash Country

Dollywood's Splash Country cools things off with more than 23 water slides and thrill rides from the daring drops of Big Bear Plunge to a white water rafting ride and the twisting turns of the Mountain Scream body slide ride. There's no doubt Dollywood's Splash Country knows how to make the most of a summer day.

Dollywood

Thrills and laughter fill the air with more than 30 rides and attractions for students to choose from along with demonstrations by master craftsmen and the best music around. Dollywood has it all, including live shows, seasonal events and a Christmas season that goes all out.

Parkway Attractions

Choose your screams from bungee jumping, indoor skydiving, bumper boats and other fast-moving attractions. Enjoy a game of laser tag or miniature golf. Or, take your choice of fun-filled transportation on one of the multi-level Pigeon Forge go-cart tracks, a boat journey through dinosaur country or even a ride on the back of a camel!
