Driving Yourself
Enjoy a scenic ride into the foothills of
the Smoky Mountains, a short 33 miles
southeast of Knoxville, four miles south
of Sevierville and five miles north of
Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Three interstates run near Pigeon Forge:
I-75, I-40 and I-81. They are connected
to the town by State Route 66, U.S.
Highways 441, 411 and 321.
Tennessee law requires all occupants
of motor vehicles to wear seat belts.
The state also has a mandatory child
restraint law that requires children,
infant to 12 years of age, to be
secured in a child safety seat and/or
in the back seat of the vehicle.

Knoxville’s McGhee Tyson Airport
(865-342-3000) is located just 47 miles
from Pigeon Forge. Eight airlines with
connecting services from Houston,
Memphis, Newark/New York, Atlanta,
Philadelphia and St. Louis serve the

Time Zone
Pigeon Forge is located in the Eastern
Time Zone. Tennessee changes to
Daylight Savings Time in March and
reverts to Eastern Standard Time
in November.
Climate and Clothing
The climate in Pigeon Forge is close
to perfect. Summer days are warm
with an average temperature of 84ºF.
Winter is moderately cold with an
average temperature of 40ºF.
The family atmosphere here lends
itself to casual attire for almost all
activities. Light clothing for summer
and layers for winter work well. Take a
jacket if you’re headed to the mountains;
the temperatures are cooler at higher
elevations, even in the summer.
